Tyo Obatusin, M.D., Receives Board Certification in General Psychiatry.
Norfolk – June 22, 2012: Faith Regional Health Services is pleased to announce that Tayo Obatusin, M.D., has earned his board certification in General Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
To achieve this certification, Dr. Obatusin successfully passed the Initial Certification Examination in addition to completing rigorous training and achievement of the gold standard in each of the six core competencies of patient care, medical knowledge, interpersonal and communications skills, professionalism, systems-based practice, and practice-based learning and improvement.
“We would like to congratulate Dr. Obatusin on this accomplishment as he continues to demonstrate his expertise and commitment to quality patient care,” commented Patrick Roche, Chief Operating Officer at Faith Regional Physician Services.
Dr. Obatusin obtained his medical degree from University of Maiduguri, College of Medicine in Nigeria. He then pursued a Psychiatric Residency at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta where he served as chief resident. He has also completed an Addictions Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
Dr. Obatusin joined Faith Regional Physician Services in August 2009. As a board certified psychiatrist, Dr. Obatusin specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders with a special emphasis in substance abuse treatment.
