Health Resource Center

Imagine a comprehensive health education center built especially for you. Faith Regional’s Health Resource Center was designed to help you become better informed about important health matters and to provide tools to adopt a healthier lifestyle. The center features many health education services about health matters relevant to you and your family. The services are complimentary and the resources are abundant. Stop by for a visit today!

Our goal is to provide education and services to the community that promote health, wellness and disease prevention. Services provided by the Health Resource Center include:

Faith Regional Health Services' Health Resource Center is a reality due to the vision of creating a healthcare service that will benefit our community. We view health as holistic -- affecting the social, physical, mental and spiritual health of the individual.

Our Location

The Health Resource Center is located in the first floor of the Faith Regional Medical Offices West/Carson Cancer Center building.

Hours

The Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Stop in and explore the many resources available.

Appearance Center

The Appearance Center is a relaxing place where women who are experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatment can select wigs, hats or scarves. Women are encouraged to browse the large section of wigs and appearance products that are courtesy of Faith Regional Health Services and the American Cancer Society.


Resource Library

The Health Resource Center features an extensive collection of books, videos and print information on today’s important health topics. There are also three computers with Internet access and specialized health information databases that can provide in-depth research in a variety of other health areas.
Visitors are invited to relax and explore the vast health information resources available while also enjoying a refreshment from the coffee/cappuccino bar.

"Healthy U"
Classes & Events

“Healthy U” classes feature monthly health-related seminars presented by physicians and other healthcare professionals. These classes provide the perfect opportunity for you to become informed about important health topics and have your questions answered by knowledgeable professionals. Seminars are offered at no charge or a nominal fee. For a listing of upcoming classes and events, stop by or call the Health Resource Center at

Tech Tots
Toy Lending Library

The Toy Lending Library provides adapted toys and devices for families of children with physical and/or developmental challenges. A child’s most important work is to play, and through play children continually learn and refine many skills. Items are checked out and returned monthly. There is no cost for families to utilize this service.

Health Trek 2008: April 14 - May 25

Please join us for Health Trek’s 14th year of promoting healthier lifestyles! This friendly team
competition is open to all businesses, organizations and individuals in the Norfolk area.
Participants enroll as teams and earn points for exercising and other healthy lifestyle choices. It’s
fun, it’s easy and a great way to get in shape for summer with the encouragement of your team!

How to Register:

Gather your 3, 4 or 5 member teams and complete the registration form.

Return the completed form
along with your team’s FULL entry fee to the Health Resource Center (located in the Medical Offices West/ Carson Cancer Center building, 110 N. 29th St., on the ground floor just inside the front entrance of the building) between 8:00 a.m.—5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Cost is $10.00 per person and MUST be received by April 11th!

How it works:

Points are assigned to various activities, depending on the level of intensity and length of time. Team members track their
daily points and submit their weekly total to their team captain. The captain then submits the points each Monday to
Health Trek by email, fax or phone. The team standings and healthy tips are then distributed each week by email.

Participants Received:

  • Health Trek t-shirt
  • All participants were eligible to win one of MANY randomly drawn gift cards at the conclusion of Health Trek valued between $10-$50.
  • Weekly team standings to track team progress.
  • “Make The Choice to Challenge Yourself” seminar— This seminar will be offered on 4/28/08 from 12:00pm—
    1:00pm and on 4/29/08 from 6:00pm—7:00pm. Faith Regional’s Hospital Medicine Director, Dr. Joseph Metcalf
    will discuss physiologic changes associated with exercise, benefits of exercise and setting goals to keep yourself
    challenged and motivated. Dr. Metcalf is an athlete and avid runner who has participated in many marathons and
    was the 2000 & 2001 Lincoln Marathon winner. Join us for this interesting presentation from someone who has truly
    challenged himself to meet his fitness goals. Hurry, space is limited! - The first 120 participants who register for each
    date/time will be accepted!
  • Optional trivia questions to be completed by your team for extra points and interaction.
  • Health Trek trophy to the top 3-member, 4-member and 5-member teams.
  • The encouragement of your team will help you to stay motivated and challenge you to reach your personal fitness
    goals.
