Having pulmonologists based in Norfolk allows for timely treatment of diagnoses such as asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis/COPD; lung tumors and cancer; lung infections and pneumonia; various interstitial lung diseases, such as Farmer's Lung; pulmonary hypertension; pulmonary embolism and vasculitis; acute and chronic respiratory failure; sleep apnea; insomnia and many others.
Wajahat Khalil, M.D., F.C.C.P.
Dr. Khalil, a pulmonologist, specializes in the treament and diagnosis of pulmonary, critical care and sleep disorders. He focuses in the treatment of diagnoses such as asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis/COPD; lung tumors and cancer; lung infections and pneumonia; various interstitial lung diseases, such as Farmer’s Lung, and pulmonary hypertension.
Dr. Khalil received his medical degree from the Baqai Medical College at the University of Karachi-Pakistan where he graduated with distinctions in gynecology, obstetrics, pediatrics, otolaryngology and ophthalmology. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois School of Medicine and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care.
In addition, Dr. Khalil went on to pursue a fellowship in pulmonary/critical care and sleep medicine at the University of Minnesota and is Board Certified in Pulmonary Disease. During his fellowship, he pursued research in understanding molecular mechanism involved in Pathophysiology and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
