Innovation
The Dialysis Center is part of Faith Regional Health Services, a nonprofit organization. This means that revenue generated by the facility is returned to it in the form of new equipment and the latest technologies. Patients of the center can be assured that they are consistently benefiting from the best possible technological advances.
One example is the dialyzer reuse. Dialyzers, or artificial kidneys, are identified with each patient’s name and stored between uses. This system reuses the same artificial kidney up to fifteen times or more and reduces the chance of first use syndrome, a common side effect of new dialyzers. Other highly advanced technical aspects of the center include computerized monitoring of patient data during treatment and state-of-the-art water treatment equipment.
Quality of Care
Individualized patient care is a top priority. Each patient of the Dialysis Center receives the highest quality of healthcare available. The center’s multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals evaluates each patient on a regular basis. At monthly patient care conferences, the team discusses all aspects of a patient’s health concerns and updates care plans appropriately.
Lifestyle
Patients of the Dialysis Center are encouraged to continue in their daily activities. Education is a key component in living with any physical ailment. The professional staff at Northeast Nebraska Dialysis Center provides education to all patients and their families to assist them in leading a more active and healthy lifestyle.
Exercise can play a major role in leading an independent life. Studies show that dialysis patients who incorporate exercise into their daily lives have increased energy levels and generally feel better. Each patient of the Northeast Nebraska Dialysis Center meets with an exercise specialist who develops an exercise program to fit their specific needs.
Exercise is a routine part of dialysis treatments and staff members monitor each patient’s performance. Patients can exercise during treatments using specially designed cycles. The cycle secures to the floor in front of the chair for stationary cycling and features tension control and a multifunction computer. The cycles can be easily adjusted to fit each patient. Patients also participate in other exercises during treatment including upper body strength exercises.
Family and Friends
Family members and friends are encouraged to attend treatment sessions with you to learn about your condition and needs, and to learn techniques which will assist you while at home. Visitors will be asked to wait in the waiting room while patients are being put on a machine and when they are coming off.
