Joseph McClain, M.D., M.S., F.A.C.S.
Board Certified in Surgery and Thoracic Surgery
 Dr. McClain received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center with distinction in Omaha. Following medical school, he went on to complete a surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residencies at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Following his training, he became board certified by the American Board of Surgery and Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. McClain served as a cardiothoracic surgeon at the McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond, Virgina. In addition, he was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Virginia Commonwealth University. Most recently, he worked at the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute in Lewiston, Maine.
Dr. McClain performs a full spectrum of cardiothoracic surgery including on and off pump CABGs and all types of valve procedures. He has experience in all areas of general thoracic surgery including minimally invasive video assisted thoracoscopic techniques, esophageal and lung surgeries. Also, he performs radiofrequency ablations - a nonsurgical procedure used to treat some types of rapid heart beating.
