 Thomas d’Amato, MD, PhD, FACS, combines his passion for medicine with the precision gained from years of military service when caring for each patient.
As a board certified cardiothoracic surgeon, he is able to offer his patients a full spectrum of adult cardiac, thoracic and vascular procedures including complete disease management and life-long follow-up for valvular heart disease, aortic aneurysms and peripheral vascular disease as well as thoracic surgical disorders and lung cancer.
After receiving his Ph.D. in biological sciences he went on to complete his medical degree, residencies in general and cardiothoracic surgery, and a fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery.
Since graduating medical school 22 years ago, Dr. d’Amato has enhanced his surgical skills through the many positions he has held in both the clinical and academic realms.
Dr. d’Amato began his military service with the United States Navy in 1992 and continues to serve in the US Naval Reserves. He moved to Norfolk from Youngstown, Ohio and
enjoys spending time with his family and caring for his horses.
