Dialysis Center Approved for Peritoneal Service
The Faith Regional Dialysis department received State approval for the addition of peritoneal dialysis at the Faith Regional Dialysis Center. Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) is now a practical and widespread treatment for kidney failure. It allows patients to have more control over treatments by eliminating the need for scheduled dialysis sessions at a center. Treatments can be administered at home, at work or even on vacations.
There are several different forms of Peritoneal Dialysis. The most common form is known as Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD). This form of PD does not require using a machine and allows the patient to be able to walk around while the dialysis solution is in the abdomen. Other forms of Peritoneal Dialysis require the use of a machine called a cycler. These forms are sometimes called Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD). Peritoneal Dialysis helps patients lead full, active lifestyles.
