Faith Regional Announces
New Vice President of Growth and Development

Faith Regional Health Services is pleased to announce that Barry Spear has been appointed as the Vice President of Growth and Development at Faith Regional Health Services. In this new position, Spear will facilitate the continued development of relationships with area critical access hospitals and physicians. The goal is to collaborate in providing services closer to patients’ homes and to ease the referral process when necessary. Spear will also work with the Foundation Board of Directors toward the growth and development of Faith Regional Health Services Foundation.

“The position of Vice President of Growth and Development is a reflection of two major strategies for Faith Regional Health Services,” said Jim Sinek, President and CEO of Faith Regional Health Services. “One is the continued growth or our regional network as we continue to develop our vision of becoming the regional referral center for Northeast Nebraska. Second, is our recognition that philanthropy will play an increasingly important role for Faith Regional. Partnering with individuals to fulfill their dreams and wishes in the pursuit of our mission of serving Christ by providing all people with exemplary healthcare services in an environment of love and care, will exponentially expand our capabilities on behalf of the people in Northeast Nebraska. I am delighted that someone as experienced and talented as Barry Spear has accepted the position. I look forward to working with Barry in successfully implementing these two major strategies for Faith Regional.”

Spear has 23 years of progressive and varied experience in health care administration, including thirteen years as Vice President for System Development at the Iowa Health System and, most recently, served as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Hospice of Central Iowa. He brings significant experience in developing regional hospital and physician affiliations, strategic planning and elevating philanthropy to a core strategy, along with implementing philanthropic best practices across the healthcare system.

Spear received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Education from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He continued his education at Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri, receiving his Master of Arts in School Administration.

“The opportunity at Faith Regional Health Services is tremendously exciting,” noted Spear. “Most everything of real importance today requires meaningful partnership along with important collaborations and in today’s healthcare environment it is especially true with hospitals and physicians. Quality healthcare is truly a community and regional treasure and fulfilling folks’ dreams related to philanthropy is a key part of our work going forward. It’s exciting to be a member of a management team whose vision of the future represents accepting responsibility for the health of a community and region.”
