Computer Kiosks Now Available at Faith Regional
Faith Regional Health Services has installed computer kiosks throughout the hospital to provide patients and visitors with complimentary online computer access. The computers can be used to check e-mail, search the Internet for specific information or set up a Care Pages web site. On West campus, the kiosks are located in the waiting areas used by surgery, maternity, ICU and Medical/Surgical on second floor. On East campus, a kiosk is located in the Transitional Care Unit dining area.
The kiosks serve as another resource for patients and visitors while at Faith Regional. For example, individuals who are waiting on a family member who is having surgery or a test to be performed, can go to one of the kiosks and look up specific information pertaining to that procedure or just stay connected to work if necessary.
"As more and more people continue to rely on computers for credible healthcare information as well as for communication, providing computer access at no cost is just one more way that Faith Regional is able to meet the overall needs of our patients and their families," said Jacque Genovese, director of Marketing, Planning and Research. "Last year we introduced Care Pages as a way for families to stay connected with loved ones during their hospitalization and following discharge. Now individuals can log on while they are in the hospital and write about their care and experience in real time."
Care pages is a service provided through Faith Regional that allows patients to create a free, private web site that makes it easy to update family, friends and colleagues all at once, share photos, collect supporting messages from loved ones and friends, learn more about healthcare issues and connect to other patients with similar concerns.
Wireless Internet has been available at Faith Regional for the past two years. Patients and visitors are welcome to bring in their own electronic devices to use while at Faith Regional. The Health Resource Center, located on the first floor of Medical Offices West, serves as another great resource at Faith Regional. Along with a resource library, computers are available for patients and visitors to learn about different health topics.
For security purposes, there are time allowances and searchable site restrictions in place to allow more people access to the computers.
