Surgical Services |
The surgery department provides surgical services on both an inpatient and outpatient basis, including:
- Ear, nose and throat
- Gastroenterology
- General dentistry, including tooth extractions
- Electro-convulsive therapy
- Obstetrical and Gynecological surgical procedures
- Ophthalmology
- Oral
- Orthopedic
- Plastic and Reconstructive
- Urological
- Vascular
- 75 other General surgical procedures
The
surgery department also operates the recovery room, or post-anesthesia
care unit, and the sterile processing unit, which sterilizes
all instruments for both campuses,
as well as for the respiratory and anesthesia departments,
physical therapy and a number of physicians and hospitals
in the area.
Another unit the department oversees is the ambulatory surgery
unit, which prepares patients for surgery and does pre-admission
testing. They also hold pre-op parties for children awaiting
surgery and assist ophthalmology with yag laser procedures.
Surgical
equipment and supplies which are no longer needed at Faith
Regional are donated annually to the impoverished population
of Ecuador with the aid of Dr. Greg Sears and Dr. Robert Smith,
both oral/maxial facial surgeons who donate personal time
to provide medical services in Ecuador each year.
