Behavioral Health The
Behavioral Health unit is a 13-bed unit designed to care for adults
19 and over suffering from a range of mental illnesses. Acute inpatient
psychiatric services for major depression, anxiety disorders or chronic
mental illnesses are available for people in a 22-county area. The unit
also provides the assessment and evaluation of patients under emergency
protective custody in the 22-county area. Chemical Dependency ProgramIntensive treatment is available for youths and adults with substance abuse problems within a 60-mile radius of Norfolk. Other services include alcohol/drug education classes and evaluations, gambling assessments, adult and youth co-dependency treatment, and individual, couple and family counseling. Personnel also make presentations in surrounding communities and network with agencies like the Department of Health and Human Services, Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), state probation, employers, clergy, SCDP programs through local and area school systems, county courts, attorneys and in-house referrals.
